Preventive Care and Vaccinations for Pets
Dr. Zickmann and his team at Lebanon Veterinary Hospital are committed to learning the newest information about pet care. We follow the information provided by the American Veterinary Medical Association to educate veterinarians and veterinary hospital teams about the most important discoveries and protocols for pet vaccinations. Our team frequently attends
conferences to learn more, and Dr. Zickmann generally tries new products on his own pets to be certain of their effectiveness before he introduces them to his patients.
For pet health assurances, we recommend regular annual physical examinations for all pets, and we recommend examinations right away after adoption or purchase if you have a new puppy or new kitten in your family. These regular physical examinations provide a baseline for us so that we can easily identify health changes as they arise. Conditions that are caught early are also more likely to be treatable.
Our regular annual pet physical exams are a nose-to-tail check that includes checks of:
- Ears, nose, throat, mouth and teeth
- Organ systems
- Heart and lungs
- Hips and other joints
...and more. Dr. Zickmann often recommends blood tests to further check major organ systems as well, especially if your pet is a breed that is prone to certain health conditions.
